What Makes a Strong STEAM Program?

What Makes a Strong STEAM Program?

STEAM programs aim to engage students through educational, hands-on learning experiences that center around the foundations of science and technology.

STEAM programs have gained popularity in recent years because they provide unique learning experiences by engaging students in interactive activities.

Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics are what the letters in the acronym stand for. Traditionally, it was known simply as STEM, but the “A” was incorporated to broaden its focus and appeal to a broader audience. This was a fantastic addition because the design aspect  – of say – 3D printing, is as much of an art as it is a science. Such is just one example out of many. The hands-on nature of STEAM allows students to manipulate objects, programs, and designs which, in and of itself, is connected to the creative aspect of a student’s mind; thus, the “A” in STEAM is a well-deserved entry.

Resource Room Learning Center hosts a wide range of STEAM Learning Programs, all geared toward empowering students to recognize real-world problems and work as a team to provide solutions to such challenges. Our most popular programs are Drones, Robots, and 3D Printing. Each program is comprised of Level 1 and Level 2 courses that scaffold student learning. In addition, each program is broken into grade levels that present age-appropriate concepts and design models. The grade ranges are K – 2, 3-5, and 6-8. As the grade level increases, the complexity of each project’s design, coding, and execution increases.

Your students will learn about the forces of nature, the real-world application of artificial intelligence, and the marvel and convenience of 3D printing and design. All our programs are hands-on and team-based. We work to foster a greater understanding of technology and teach students how to work together by sharing ideas and working through problems together.  We believe this is a fundamental aspect of student learning and is an essential skill for them to possess as they progress through their academic and professional careers.

We invite you to learn more about STEAM education and the structured, standards, and curriculum-based programs Resource Room offers. Our website contains full course descriptions, and when it comes to pricing, we offer discounts for families with multiple children and when you book Level 1 and Level 2 at the same time.
