The spring SAT Corridor.

Three official SAT dates sit close together this spring. A corridor is two of them back to back, with prep running straight through the gap, so your student walks into the second test already sharp. It is the plan behind our 2026 results: 18 of 18 students improved, by 217 points on average.

The method

How our system works.

Three things, done the same way for every student.

  1. 01

    Start with a real test

Every student begins with a full-length practice SAT under real test conditions, proctored in our center. That score is the baseline we measure against, every time.

  2. 02

    Prepare one on one

Twenty hours of one-on-one tutoring built around that student’s specific gaps, plus independent practice at home between sessions.

  3. 03

    Test back to back

Students sit for consecutive test dates without pausing their prep. They relax, they get sharper, and they never have to restart from cold.

The retest

Then they took it again.

Eight students tested in August and again in September, four weeks later, with no break in their preparation. All eight went up again.

In context

What these scores mean.

Out of every 100 students who take the SAT, how many each score beats.

Percentile reached by SAT score: 1000 is the 48th percentile, 1200 is the 76th percentile, 1300 is the 87th percentile, 1370 is the 91st percentile, 1500 is the 98th percentile.050100A score of 1000 beats 48 out of 100 test takers48th1000A score of 1200 beats 76 out of 100 test takers76th1200A score of 1300 beats 87 out of 100 test takers87th1300A score of 1370 beats 91 out of 100 test takers91st1370A score of 1500 beats 98 out of 100 test takers98th1500

1200 is the line that matters

Most colleges are test optional, so families choose whether to send a score. 1200 is the common threshold for sending one. Fifteen of our eighteen students finished at or above it.

You do not need a 1500

Many parents remember 1500 as the mark of a top student. On today’s SAT, a 1300 beats 87 out of 100 test takers, and a 1370 beats 91. Twelve of our students finished at 1300 or above.

How we measure. Starting scores come from a full-length practice SAT taken under real test conditions before lessons began. August and September figures are official College Board scores; where a student tested twice, the higher score is counted. Percentiles come from College Board’s published tables. A first practice test is taken cold, so part of every gain comes from getting familiar with the test. These are one group’s results and are not a guarantee for any individual student.

Testing this year? Let’s build the plan.

We start with a real practice test, show you exactly where your student stands, and map out test dates that keep the momentum going.

What families say

In their own words.

Reviews from families who came to us for SAT Prep.

  • Five out of five stars
“I sent my son to the Resource Room for SAT Prep, primarily in math. He had already taken the SAT and this was an attempt to improve upon his scores when taking it again. Due to his school and work schedule, his time was limited. I reached out to the Resource Room and spoke to Sam regarding an improvement strategy. She worked with him once a week for two months and made the most of the little time they had together. My son's score went up by 70 points. I truly believe that this was a result of the work that Sam did with him. She honed in on his strengths and evened out his weaknesses. I highly recommend the Resource Room for all of your child's academic needs!”

“Our 2 children have used Resource Room for the last couple of years for general tutoring in math, science and global studies. Their grades have always gotten better after RR. We have also used them for SAT/ACT and Regents and have been very pleased with the results. Staff is very professional, our children are very comfortable in the environment, and choose to go there themselves for help. RR has given them knowledge and confidence. I would recommend Resource Room to anyone that is looking for tutoring.”

Why families choose us

What SAT prep here actually looks like.

  • Built for the digital SAT

Prep matched to the exam students actually sit: two adaptive modules, the Bluebook app and its built-in tools, and the tighter pacing the digital format demands.

  • One tutor, start to finish

The same licensed educator for the length of the program, so nobody re-learns your student's weak spots halfway through. Instruction is built around how they learn, not read off a script.

  • Three proctored exams

Every package includes three full-length proctored diagnostics: one to set the baseline, two more to confirm the plan is working while there is still time to adjust.

  • 200 to 300 points

The range most of our students move from their first diagnostic. Where a student lands depends on the starting point and the hours, and we give you a realistic number once that first exam is scored.

How it works

Our SAT prep process.

We begin with a comprehensive evaluation so every hour of tutoring is spent where it will move the score most.

  1. 01

    Diagnose

Initial full-length diagnostics establish a clear score baseline and reveal section-by-section strengths and weaknesses.

  2. 02

    Plan

We build a targeted plan around the student's profile, whether they need content remediation, strategy, pacing, or confidence.

  3. 03

    Teach

One consistent tutor delivers customized instruction matched to the student's pace, learning style, and target score.

  4. 04

    Monitor

Ongoing practice and periodic proctored assessments track progress and keep prep on course through test day.

The exam

What the SAT covers.

The current SAT is a digital exam with two sections, Reading & Writing and Math, and runs about 2 hours and 14 minutes plus breaks.

  • Reading & Writing

Comprehension, vocabulary in context, grammar, revision, and editing skills.

  • Math

Algebra, advanced math, problem-solving and data analysis, and geometry and trigonometry. A calculator is allowed on the entire Math section, and Bluebook includes a built-in one.

Because the digital SAT is shorter, adaptive, and strategically paced, students benefit from prep that teaches both the content and the mechanics of the exam. Before test day, students should download Bluebook and complete exam setup on their device in advance.

Common questions

SAT prep questions, answered.

SAT or ACT, which is better?

There is no universal answer, but most students we work with currently prefer the SAT. Many find its pacing more manageable, while the ACT's timing is often more unforgiving. We recommend starting with a diagnostic and letting the data decide which test fits your student best.

How many hours of tutoring does a student need?

Most students do best with our 20-hour private package, which gives enough time to build on strengths, address weak areas, improve timing, and build confidence. Juniors sitting two spring SATs back to back do best with the 25-hour Two-Test SAT Corridor, which carries prep straight through both dates. We confirm the right amount during your free consultation after reviewing goals and diagnostics.

Do you offer in-person and virtual tutoring?

Yes, both. In-person is our preferred format, but virtual and hybrid options are available when that's the better fit for your family.

When do the SAT group classes run?

The group class is offered once a year, timed to the March SAT. If you need prep on a different timeline, private tutoring is available year-round and you can start anytime.

How much can a student improve?

In 2026, all 18 students who finished our 20-hour program improved on an official SAT, by 217 points on average. Many of our students see 200 to 300 point gains from their initial diagnostic baseline, though results depend on starting point, target score, and hours invested. We'll give you a realistic range for your student after the first diagnostic.

Registering for the SAT is the family's responsibility, not ours: students and parents register through the student's own College Board account. Register as early as you can: test centers are assigned first come, first served, and students who register late are far more likely to be sent to a center further from home. Late registration carries an extra fee. Dates above are as published by College Board; confirm them on their site before you rely on a deadline.
