What families say
In their own words.
Reviews from families who came to us for SAT Prep.
Five out of five stars
“I sent my son to the Resource Room for SAT Prep, primarily in math. He had already taken the SAT and this was an attempt to improve upon his scores when taking it again. Due to his school and work schedule, his time was limited. I reached out to the Resource Room and spoke to Sam regarding an improvement strategy. She worked with him once a week for two months and made the most of the little time they had together. My son's score went up by 70 points. I truly believe that this was a result of the work that Sam did with him. She honed in on his strengths and evened out his weaknesses. I highly recommend the Resource Room for all of your child's academic needs!”

“Our 2 children have used Resource Room for the last couple of years for general tutoring in math, science and global studies. Their grades have always gotten better after RR. We have also used them for SAT/ACT and Regents and have been very pleased with the results. Staff is very professional, our children are very comfortable in the environment, and choose to go there themselves for help. RR has given them knowledge and confidence. I would recommend Resource Room to anyone that is looking for tutoring.”

“My biggest challenge preparing for the SAT was my lack of confidence and learning gaps caused by Covid. Sam specializes in math, Joe focuses on English. Together they make a remarkable team.”

Why families choose us
What SAT prep here actually looks like.
Built for the digital SAT
Prep matched to the exam students actually sit: two adaptive modules, the Bluebook app and its built-in tools, and the tighter pacing the digital format demands.
One tutor, start to finish
The same licensed educator for the length of the program, so nobody re-learns your student's weak spots halfway through. Instruction is built around how they learn, not read off a script.
Three proctored exams
Every package includes three full-length proctored diagnostics: one to set the baseline, two more to confirm the plan is working while there is still time to adjust.
200 to 300 points
The range most of our students move from their first diagnostic. Where a student lands depends on the starting point and the hours, and we give you a realistic number once that first exam is scored.
How it works
Our SAT prep process.
We begin with a comprehensive evaluation so every hour of tutoring is spent where it will move the score most.
01
Diagnose
Initial full-length diagnostics establish a clear score baseline and reveal section-by-section strengths and weaknesses.
02
Plan
We build a targeted plan around the student's profile, whether they need content remediation, strategy, pacing, or confidence.
03
Teach
One consistent tutor delivers customized instruction matched to the student's pace, learning style, and target score.
04
Monitor
Ongoing practice and periodic proctored assessments track progress and keep prep on course through test day.
The exam
What the SAT covers.
The current SAT is a digital exam with two sections, Reading & Writing and Math, and runs about 2 hours and 14 minutes plus breaks.
Reading & Writing
Comprehension, vocabulary in context, grammar, revision, and editing skills.
Math
Algebra, advanced math, problem-solving and data analysis, and geometry and trigonometry. A calculator is allowed on the entire Math section, and Bluebook includes a built-in one.
Because the digital SAT is shorter, adaptive, and strategically paced, students benefit from prep that teaches both the content and the mechanics of the exam. Before test day, students should download Bluebook and complete exam setup on their device in advance.
Programs
Choose your SAT prep path.
Private tutoring is available year-round and you can start anytime. Our group class runs once a year for the March SAT.
There is no universal answer, but most students we work with currently prefer the SAT. Many find its pacing more manageable, while the ACT's timing is often more unforgiving. We recommend starting with a diagnostic and letting the data decide which test fits your student best.
How many hours of tutoring does a student need?
Most students do best with our 20-hour private package, which gives enough time to build on strengths, address weak areas, improve timing, and build confidence. We confirm the right amount during your free consultation after reviewing goals and diagnostics.
Do you offer in-person and virtual tutoring?
Yes, both. In-person is our preferred format, but virtual and hybrid options are available when that's the better fit for your family.
When do the SAT group classes run?
The group class is offered once a year, timed to the March SAT. If you need prep on a different timeline, private tutoring is available year-round and you can start anytime.
How much can a student improve?
Many of our students see 200 to 300 point gains from their initial diagnostic baseline, though results depend on starting point, target score, and hours invested. We'll give you a realistic range for your student after the first diagnostic.
2026–27 SAT calendar
Test dates and registration deadlines.
Every SAT date College Board has confirmed for the 2026–27 year, with the deadline to register for each one. All deadlines close at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Registering for the SAT is the family's responsibility, not ours: students and parents register through the student's own College Board account. Register as early as you can — test centers are assigned first come, first served, and students who register late are far more likely to be sent to a center further from home. Late registration carries an extra fee. Dates above are as published by College Board on August 9, 2026; confirm on their site before you rely on a deadline.
Schedule a consultation and we'll pinpoint exactly where your student needs support, then build a plan that delivers real progress. Consultations are always free.
